Holly Arabella's Giveaway

A while ago I won Holly's giveaway and last week I received the prizes so I thought it would be a great photo opportunity for you all. This was a tumblr giveaway by the way as we both have tumblr too.

  • Aussie Dual Personality - Volume + Conditioning Mousse
  • Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss in Nude
  • 3 Nails Inc nail varnishes - Devonshire Row, Spring Mews and Maple Street
  • River Island pink 3D rose bracelet.
I was so thrilled with all of my prizes and was really excited to try them all out...
Aussie Dual Personality - Volume + Conditioning Mousse
I've never used any Aussie hair products before so I was eager to try this hair mousse out. Now let me start off by telling you how delicious this smells. It is so heavenly to have such a gorgeous smell in your hair and I love when I catch a waft of it when I'm walking along or something. It's really easy to use and it sinks into your hair incredibly quickly. All you have to do is squirt some of it into your palm and rub it together slightly, then apply to damp hair. You can either apply it and style it to however you wish or you can use a hair dryer with it for maximum effects. I definitely found my hair much softer and although you don't exactly see your hair appearing bouffant, you can notice there is added volume to your hair but I guess it just depends on how you style it.
Nails Inc Nail Polishes, L-R: Devonshire Row, Maple Street, Spring Mews

As part of the giveaway, it was only Spring Mews that was featured so it was a pleasant surprise to find an extra two nail polishes in my package. Each colour is gorgeous in my opinion.
Devonshire Row is a very pretty purpley-pink colour that looks perfect for the summer, especially on toes, and will look amazing with a tan.
Maple Street is a gorgeous bronze-y colour with a shimmer to it and it isn't usually a colour I would pick but I definitely cannot wait to try it out and actually think it'll look really great on.
Spring Mews is a colour I have always lusted after but have never found the opportunity to buy such a colour or had the confidence to purchase such a colour! It's a very pretty mint green and looks like a colour that you could use when doing rainbow nails or nail art, and of course for a full coat all over.
My nails are currently bare so I really need some help with choosing which colour to paint my nails!
River Island pink 3D rose bracelet

I'm confident I eyed this bracelet up when I was in River Island a while ago but I was totally skint so couldn't afford anything. It's such a cute and fun bracelet and I wore it into college the other day and got a few compliments from my friends after wearing it. I think it's so lovely for Spring/Summer and can definitely brighten up any outfit.
Apologies for my horrible hand and arm in this picture, I just thought you'd want to see how it looks on!
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss in Nude

Finally, a product I was so eager to try out and always have been - the Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss! I for one absolutely love the name, it's so cheeky but of course I was keen to see whether or not it would live up to its name...
Although the colour looks quite dark in the tube, it's actually very wearable and is only a shade or two darker than my actual lip colour so it is pretty 'nude' and natural. It smells so delicious, it kind of reminds me of Terry's Chocolate Orange! The lid is brown and sparkly too (although you can't see on camera - sorry!) so that's a nice touch to the packaging.
Now, does it work? YES! I was pleasantly surprised that it works actually because I did think "Hmm, it probably won't do too much will it?' but I can honestly say there is a difference in lip size after using it. It actually tingles after application for quite a while, it's almost like you've got pins and needles in your lips but I guess that's a sign that it's working. But definitely, my lips appeared fuller and 'poutier' than normal so I'm very pleased!

Hope you enjoyed this post everyone!

My current skincare regime

Hello everybody, I've been so busy with exams and revision recently so I feel now is the time to finally start up my blogspot. I have one more exam left so it's all good (plus it's only French!)
Anyway, I thought I would start by letting you all know my skincare regime. I was going to post this on my tumblr but a lot of my many thousands of followers don't seem to care for my personal life or personal pictures so I guess on here it would be better responded to? That's why the pictures are water marked with my tumblr URL, don't worry, I haven't stolen the pictures from someone else's blog! They are mine, I just cannot be bothered to re-water mark them again! I hope so, it took a lot of time and effort for me to do all the pictures I got. I'll post the rest later. Anyway....

L-R: Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream, Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

My mum recently gave me these Liz Earle starter items which I have been using since last Saturday. Unfortunately due to hormones my skin is in an absolute state at the moment (I've always suffered from particularly bad skin and acne for as long as I can remember) so absolutely nothing can save it at the moment. However at first when I started using this I felt that it was actually causing my skin to be atrocious but I've actually realised that it's just bad timing and I'm clearly due my period soon (sorry, tmi!).

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
By the way, if you're wondering why I haven't photographed the muslin cloth that comes with it, it's simply because it needs to go in the wash because it has foundation and black eye make-up marks on it, so I don't really want you to see my grubby cloth!
As I was saying before I was worried that this was actually making my skin even worse but I actually think it's down to hormones and stress why my skin is so bad at the moment.
Anyway, first of all I would like to tell you how divine this product smells. It has "Rosemary, chamomile, cocoa butter and eucalyptus essential oil" named as some of the ingredients so of course it smells heavenly. It's a really nice, non-greasy creamy formula so it's very nice and easy to use. You use one or two pumps, rub it together slightly in the palm of your hands and apply to your face and neck using your fingertips. Your skin should be dry when you apply it and then you use the muslin cloth in hot water which you then ring and begin cleaning the cream off of your skin. The muslin cloth acts as an exfoliator too so once it has all been removed your skin is left feeling incredibly smooth.

Instant effects: I certainly noticed that my skin was left feeling very smooth after the first use which is just what my skin needed after it had been feeling very dry and un-smooth before I had started using it! In terms of whether I've seen my spots etc go down - well I would say my pores appear to be reduced with slightly fewer blackheads though in terms of spots, I haven't seen a difference, it seems to have become much worse!
Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic

I use this after using the Hot Cloth Cleanser and it's so lovely to use afterwards. It's very soothing and again smells gorgeous, with it's "Organic aloe vera, calendula, rose-scented geranium, cucumber and natural vitamin E". It really tones down any redness you may have on your skin and you just pour a bit onto a cotton wool pad and sweep it over your skin. I think I've actually used it before but it's so lovely to use so I would definitely recommend anyone to use this as part of their everyday skincare regime.  Also, the full sized bottle comes as a spray which would probably be even more soothing to spritz onto your face.

Instant effects:
I definitely felt my skin feeling more hydrated and soothed after using this product.
Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream

If you're wondering why all of a sudden a Dermalogica skin care product has popped up, this is becuase prior to using the Liz Earle products I have been religiously been using Dermalogica's products, since having special Dermalogica facials and being recommended to use certain products. However I had previously been using the Dermalogica Cleansing Gel but I found that very drying on my skin. Anyway, this is the moisturiser I used along with it and am still using now (especially since this is a new bottle which I don't want to waste by not using it). Before I applied this day and night after cleansing but the Hot Cloth Cleanser is actually so moisturising and smooths my skin so well that with using the moisturiser twice daily too, I actually found my skin to be appearing very shiny, even under make-up. And as I use Revlon's Photo Ready foundation, which is a liquid foundation known for giving a dewy look to your skin and a controversial 'sparkle', my skin was incredibly shiny and I actually had a pretty embarrassing incident when I first realised how shiny my skin was (I was at my college and caught my reflection, realising that a lot of people must have seen my very shiny face...). So I decided to only use the moisturiser once a day and only in the evenings (though I don't know if anyone thinks I should actually use it in the mornings? Comments?). Since then my skin has become noticeably less shiny but still as smooth and moisturised.
With this moisturiser a little goes a long way (on cleansed skin, not dry, unclean skin as you will end up wasting half of the bottle). However at roughly £19 a bottle (I think, correct me if I'm wrong!), I do think it's at least £5 over priced.

Instant effects: You definitely find your skin feeling much more hydrated and moisturised, and smoother after using this product, though if you don't use it for a day or two, you also notice the effects so I find this moisturiser an essential (until I use a different product that is slightly more long lasting on my skin and doesn't need to be constantly used).

I hope you've enjoyed reading this post, apologies for how lengthy it is!

Royal Wedding

Hello everyone, thought I should probably do a proper post on here for once.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Royal Wedding and watched.... if not shame on you! You missed out!
I was meant to go to my friends house for a little Royal Wedding gathering but I was actually very ill the night before and woke up with a terrible cold that I'm still suffering with, so couldn't go and had to watch the events from my bed.
Despite the temperature and blocked nose etc (I'll spare you the other gruesome details!), I absolutely LOVED the wedding and thought it was so beautiful. Kate (or Duchess Catherine of Cambridge as she is now officially known as...) looked absolutely beautiful, I'll admit that I did cry a bit when I saw her because she looked so breath taking! And yes, I wept during the ceremony, they both just looked so happy and in love so I felt very happy for them. It was truly lovely though, don't you think? Her dress was totally perfect and I loved how all of Britain came together to celebrate such a memorable event. It truly was a fantastic day to be British!
How did you all celebrate? Any street parties? I'll be very jealous if you did celebrate that way!

Anyway, I've totally caught Royal Wedding Fever and it is now my mission to marry Prince Harry! My mum has always wanted me to marry him, especially as she says he seems like 'a lot of fun'! Haha! So all weekend I have been planning my wedding to Prince Harry from my sick bed. Call me sad but I don't care!

My mum was so lovely too as when I returned home from college yesterday I found she had gone and bought all of the magazines with Royal Wedding coverage! I have to say, Hello magazine and Grazia impressed me the most. Hello is like a BIBLE! Apologies for the awful photo quality, my BlackBerry was the only thing I could get my hands on to take the picture.

Anyway, hope you're well!

Sunday, 10 April 2011

Hello...

Hello!
This is my first ever blog post, so please be kind. I had a blogger before under the same name as I am currently using but I couldn't get used to the format, and I felt too lazy with outfit posts etc too.
However I am hoping that I can actually use it this time and update regularly.

Anyway, I don't really have much else to say apart from that I hope you like my blog.....
